UAE-Europe travel: flydubai pauses Switzerland-France-Germany link for over a month
Four weekly services from Dubai affected in spring period
DUBAI – A Dubai-based carrier will temporarily suspend operations to one of Europe’s most uniquely located airports later in 2026.
flydubai has confirmed it will halt flights between Dubai International Airport and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg for more than a month.
The move is linked to scheduled infrastructure works at the trinational gateway serving France, Switzerland and Germany.
Route pause
The suspension begins on Thursday April 16 and runs until Friday May 22, according to an operational update published by the airline. During this period, EuroAirport’s main runway will undergo refurbishment, affecting its ability to handle certain aircraft and longer sectors.
flydubai’s service to Basel operates four times weekly - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. All rotations on the route will be withdrawn for the duration of the works.
Airport works
EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg sits just 4.7km west of the France–Germany–Switzerland tripoint, making it a vital access point to Alsace in France, Basel in Switzerland and Freiburg in Germany. While a secondary runway will remain operational, it will not be used for the Dubai route during the refurbishment window.
The Basel service was launched in 2024 as part of flydubai’s expanding European network.

Customers holding tickets for the affected period are being advised to contact the flydubai contact centre on (+971) 600 54 44 45 or reach out to their travel agent for rebooking or refund options.
Travellers are also encouraged to update contact details via the airline’s Manage Booking portal and check flight status regularly as schedules are adjusted.
